Highway viaduct in Chaudfontaine

This viaduct 1 600 m long allows the A605 motorway connection between the motorways E40 Brussels-Aachen and E25 Liège-Luxembourg to cross at 80 m height the valley of the Vesdre.

Particularly wide, 31,7 m, to accomodate two times three traffic lanes and a cycle track, the structure consists of a box girder 7 m high with lateral braces. The bridge with spans of 140 m should be built by launching.

Up to the tender phase, two solutions remain in competition, one composite steel-concrete with 18 000 tons of steel and 25 000 m³ of concrete, the other of prestressed concrete with 50 000 m³ of concrete and 3 500 tons of prestressing.
